Dear Friend, As you can see, development of our work often takes accidental and unpredictable turns. Along the way we weather breakdowns (Fig. A) and witness breakthroughs (Fig. B), shaping how we create and what you experience. Now, after eight years of interpreting the great American novel, we're moving on and starting something new - and we need your help to succeed. Come this winter we will begin working with Sibyl Kempson, a living and breathing playwright, on a new piece for the stage. This is an inflection point for the company: we're charting a new path for ourselves, collaborating with a writer who's in the room with us for the duration of the development period. ERS is defined in this way: a group of creative people taking on challenging new ideas and unfamiliar situations with intellectual rigor and a sense of play. In the end, we emerge with a performance that stands out in the landscape of American theater. It's your contribution that will make the new ERS show possible. In order for us to stay up and running as we go back into the rehearsal room, we need your support. Your donation will fund salaries for the performers, designers, and staff, cover the rent, and pay for the Internet. Your donation will help us continue to be active theater makers. Your donation will lead directly to the next Elevator Repair Service show (Fig. C).... This is just the beginning.
