Language Instruction profiles the late comedian Andy Kaufman in a suitably Kaufmanesque fashion. Elevator Repair Service often inhabits a universe where the ghost of Andy Kaufman — whose strange and remarkable career ranged from stand-up clubs to Taxi to the professional wrestling ring — would feel right at home. Language Instruction unwinds as a dynamic semi-narrative that puts a seemingly hapless Kaufman on stage with a team of bizarro-Berlitz instructors, whose mission, for some reason, is to teach badly fractured Dutch, German, Japanese and pure nonsense to whomever will listen.
