A Statement of Solidarity from ERS
Elevator Repair Service expresses our heartfelt and steadfast support for the thousands of protesters who have taken to the streets in recent days to call for justice for the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd – only some of the recent names in a shameful list of people who have lost their lives simply because they were Black.
We have watched events unfolding over the past week with a mix of horror, sadness, and resolve as these brave protesters have cried out what so desperately needs to be said and what so critically needs to be heard. While many of us have joined them on foot and online, we all unequivocally support these voices. We join them in demanding an end not only to these senseless murders but also to the pervasive racism that has plagued this country since its inception.
We stand in solidarity with the Black people in our company, our community, our city, our country, and the whole world. As a majority-white organization, we and others like us can and must do more to help dismantle white supremacy and systemic racism. Ultimately, we will be judged not for statements like these but for our actions going forward.
