Dear friend of ERS,

ERS is taking the current Coronavirus pandemic very seriously and we are doing our best to take precautions to protect our staff and our artists. Accordingly, we have closed our office for the foreseeable future. Even as we take the necessary steps to protect our employees and our communities, we are still working hard from our homes.

We wanted to let everyone know that, predictably, our May 11th gala has been indefinitely postponed. We also need to report that a production of our brand new piece Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge is on hold as well, along with a few planned readings that were to take place in the coming weeks. We are assessing our situation and working diligently to identify sources of emergency funding.

Despite the bad news, we are still percolating ideas for new work and continuing to do research and long-term planning for Baldwin/Buckley, The Seagull, and other new ideas we have recently hatched.  Our extended professional family is made up of creative, resilient and determined artists. We are determined to do what is right for our community and our city now, even if that means suspending the activities that are at the core of our mission. New York Magazine theater critic Helen Shaw has written an excellent piece documenting how many of us in the company are coping with the new reality. It’s a good read and represents us well. Check it out here.

We are extremely grateful to all our fans and supporters and we are wishing everyone health and safety through this crisis.
