SO, THIS JUST HAPPENED…

ERS News and Announcements

Thank you to everyone who made our June 23rd gala such a success. We raised over $127,000 which provides vital support to our day-to-day operations and allows us to continue making new work.

If you missed out, it is not too late to give here. Our fiscal year ends of July 31st and your support now will help us to launch a very busy 2022 during which Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge will tour nationally and internationally followed by a run at the Public Theater in the fall and our productions of Chekov’s The Seagull and Ulysses will have their world premieres.

Speaking of world premieres, we are thrilled to announce that Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge will have its premiere at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. We are honored to be invited to open this year’s event. Performances will be September 9th–11th. Tickets go on sale August 2nd here.

Worst job you ever had: I was a bartender in an old NYC bar that stayed open until 4am. I would have ZERO customers after 12:30am, but I had to keep the bar open for another 2-3 hours before I could close the bar. I was alone, bored to tears, exhausted, and scared when travelling home from the desolate area. It was my last bartending job.

Most surprising thing about you: I love to dress up for Halloween in bloody, gory costumes and makeup.

Any pets? I have a rescue – a 4-year old Labrador/Hound Mix named Mason. He’s family.

Left-handed or right? I’m right handed, but I used to practice writing with my left hand so I could be ambidextrous. I gave that up.

Which do you prefer french toast, pancakes, or waffles? Pancakes, all day!

Which do you prefer, cold weather or hot weather? I’m originally from Georgia. Bring on the heat, please!

Which do you prefer: classical music, jazz, or show tunes? My musical preferences totally depend on what I’m doing. Jazz for a bath, show tunes for a pick me up on a long drive, and classical music to study my lines.

What do you love about what you do? I’m always learning something new.

Favorite ERS show (whether you were involved with it or not): The Sound and the Fury. The utter fun and freedom to be so many characters in one show was thrilling.

Best thing about working with ERS: The creative process leaves all options on the table. It’s limitless and that’s inspiring.

The Red Beads: When a father’s bedtime story magically comes to life, his young daughter is plunged into the world of a poor shtetl poet, desperately in love with a woman who spurns him. With great wit and even greater heart, The Red Beads explores the beauty – and the pain – of letting love triumph over logic. This charming, comical, and stirring fable is presented as part of Theater J’s Yiddish Theater Lab. Listen here.

BORNE BACK CEASELESSLY

Glimpses into ERS’s Past

A still of the set for Shuffle, (2011), at The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Space and Design. This site specific mash-up performance utilized the texts of ERS productions The Great Gatsby, The Sound and the Fury, and The Sun Also Rises simultaneously to create an entirely new kind of performance.
