ERS News and Announcements

Due to concerns over COVID-19 surges, ERS’s premiere of Seagull at NYU Skirball Center, originally planned for February, has been postponed to July 2022.

Despite the curveballs COVID-19 continues to throw at the performing arts, we’re very excited to share Seagull with you this summer. For tickets and more information about Skirball’s season, click here.

We are very happy to announce some staffing changes that have taken place recently at ERS.

Effective January 3rd, Marilyn Haines has been promoted to Managing Director, Mo Lioce to Associate Artistic Director, and Hanna Novak to Producer. Marilyn, Mo, and Hanna have been with us for 8, 7, and 6 years, respectively. With their wealth of experience and deep knowledge of the company, they are extremely well suited to carry ERS into 2022 with passion, creativity, and wisdom. From Mark Rossier, who served as our Managing Director and Producer for the last two years:

“My goal when I came here was to look at the big picture and determine what the company needed to grow. I know that with Marilyn, Hanna, and Mo in these new roles, there will be a lot to cheer about.”

We are also pleased to welcome Quincy Confoy, ERS’s new Development Associate. Quincy is a theatre artist and playwright from NYC. Her plays have been staged at the New York International Fringe Festival, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, EST, and the Powerhouse Theater (with NYSAF). As an actress, she has performed in NY with Dutch Kills Theater and Youngblood, as well as in several other productions at the Ensemble Studio Theater and the Forestburgh Playhouse. Quincy has worked in a variety of capacities with arts organizations, including NYCNext, Rites and Reason Theatre, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and MCC Theater. She holds a B.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies from Brown University, and has studied at Trinity College Dublin and with the National Theater Institute.

In The Hot Seat:

Mo Lioce, Hanna Novak, and Marilyn Haines

In recognition of their new roles at ERS, we asked Mo, Hanna, and Marilyn to share the hot seat and answer our burning questions.

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Providence, RI and moved to California around first grade. – ML

I was born in Toronto and moved to NYC when I was 16. – HN

I was born and raised in rural Kansas and hail from a town called Verdi. – MH

What are you most excited about in your new role? What do you love most about your work with ERS?

The best part about ERS is most definitely the people. I feel so lucky to be in a group that is simultaneously so much fun and so hardworking. I love being part of the creative side of things, so more opportunities there is probably what I’m most excited about.  – ML

I’ve worked at ERS in a lot of different capacities. I’m excited to now be a big part of making our shows possible and working directly with so many great artists. I’m also a playwright, and a lot of what I’m doing at ERS carries over to making/producing my own creative work. – HN

I’m just excited to continue on this journey at ERS! I always say my favorite part of working at ERS is that the administrative practice mirrors the artistic practice: everyone takes their work seriously, but never takes themselves too seriously.  – MH

Favorite ERS Memory

There are honestly so many it’s really hard to decide. Staying overnight in the Abu Dhabi desert with Gavin and Ariana was a really special one. – ML

I loved working backstage on Fondly, Collette Richland. It’s where I met all these crazy people! – HN

My favorite is also my earliest: being in Arguendo rehearsals as John’s assistant before opening at the Public. It was my first real-life introduction to ERS, and I knew then that I would stick with ERS as long as they would have me around. – MH

Currently Reading

Luminary by ERS member Kate Scelsa!  – ML

Everything I can get my hands on by Janet Malcolm, who passed away last year – HN

The Secret History by Donna Tartt – MH

New Year’s Resolution

To read at least one book per month – ML

To be more hopeful – HN

To be more intentional – MH
